About the Webinar Topic

The tax system in India from ancient times to present stage has undergone many changes rather transformation. These changes are of structural, content wise leading to a good tax administration in India to a great extent. The government policy, economical growth and revenue generation have always come in close aid as part of good governance. The importance of indirect tax has always underlined its presence in the growth of the country. In the aforementioned topic, the scope of the indirect tax and its importance and transformation from ancient times to present GST would be discussed with practical examples.

About the Speaker

Mainan Roy, Faculty of Law, National University of Study and Research in Law. He has completed his B.A.LL.B (Hons.) from Vidyasagar University in West Bengal and thereafter, he practiced law for about two years in the High Court of Kolkata in civil and taxation matters. He did his Masters in Law with specialization in Corporate Law from National Law University, Jodhpur. Presently, he is pursuing his Ph.D on tax law from NUSRL Ranchi as well as serving as faculty of law over there in MABIJS and in HNLU. Academic persuasion along with practical field exposure in horizontal fields like in government agency All India Radio as correspondent to Avtech Ltd, UCO bank as legal counsel gave him more insight as an academician.

About the Moderator

Mrs Ipsita Choudhuri Jana, Assistant Professor of Law, Seacom Skills University. She has completed her B.A. LL.B ( Hons.) from Kalyani University in West Bengal and thereafter she practiced for about one year in the High Court of Kolkata including District Court in Criminal matters and Quasi Civil Matters. She did her Masters in Law with specialization in Muslim Law from Aliah University, Kolkata, West Bengal. Presently she is pursuing her Ph.D on Human Rights from Seacom Skills University, Birbhum, West Bengal and also serving as faculty of law over there. She served as faculty of law in Amex Law College, MABIJS, Bengal Law College, Kingston Law College.
