The Central Bureau of Investigation is been originated from the S P E. The main task was to cover the cases of bribery, dacoity, corruption etc.  in the time period of 2nd World War. Even after completion of the World crisis, the  is need for a central government to examine cases of dacoity and corruption by Central Government staff members was felt. The area of the Special Establishment Act extended to all the UT’s and  also extended to the States with the authorization of the State Government.

The fundamental distinction is that the –

  1. The area of function of CBI is large (whole nation and abroad).
  2. All the claims are turned over to the CBI by the Central Federal Government, the High Court, in addition to the Supreme Court.
  3. CBI explores situations across the country and international degree shams, fraudulence, murder, institutional scams. Investigates in your home along with abroad.

CBI is a national agency with cop’s powers. Its main jurisdiction is restricted to Delhi & UT’s. As policing spotting criminal offense and keeping laws as a State topic, the law allows the firm to function outside only with the authorization of the States.

CBI Jurisdiction

The CBI draws its  extensive power from the Delhi Unique Police Facility (DSPE). Under Section five of  the Act, the Central federal government can extend its powers and jurisdiction to the States, for investigation of defined offenses. Nevertheless, this power is limited by Area 6, which says its powers and jurisdiction cannot be extended to any State without the approval of the government of that State.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID)

The CID was founded by the British Federal government in 1902, based upon the suggestion  of the Police Commission. At the doorway of the Criminal Investigation Department workstation at, Lucknow, there’s a statue of Rai Bahadur Pandit Shambhu Nath Ji, King’s Cops Medalist (KPM) and Member of The British Empire with a caption “God Father of Indian CID”. In 1929, the CID was divided into Special Branch, CID, and the Criminal Activity Branch (CB-CID).

The CID has several branches that work from state to state. These branches consist of:

– CB-CID.

– Anti-Human Trafficking & Missing Persons Cell.

– Anti-Narcotics Cell.

– Finger Print Bureau.

CID stands for Criminal  Investigation Department which is called the Crime Investigation Department of state. CID is the investigation and intelligence department of the authorities in a state. This department works upon the investigation of murder, riot, kidnapping, theft, etc. The CID was established by the British Federal government in 1902 on the suggestion of the Police Commission. Authority’s employees are offered special training before joining them. This organization is entrusted with the obligation of the investigation by the worried state federal government and sometimes by the higher court of that state.

The fundamental distinctions are-

  1. The area of operation of CID is small as compared to CBI.
  2. All the cases that come to the CID are appointed by the govt. of particular state and the High Court.
  3. Criminal Investigation Department examines occurrence of crimes in the state consisting of criminal cases such as rioting, murder, kidnapping, theft, and attack.
  4. If a person has to join the CID, then he has to pass the criminology evaluation after passing the cops’ assessment performed by the state.

Jurisdiction of CID.

CID can investigate cases of organized criminal activity registered in different districts of the state. Specific offenses including dacoity,  kidnapping, an effort to murder, robbery, etc. While some of the detentions are being done by the district police, some more arrest is being made by STF( Special Task Force) after taking over the investigation of those cases.
